Facebook Group and Drama Lockdown Activities

Kia ora Brickworks whānau,
we’d love to keep in touch with our Brickworks community at this challenging time, and let the kids share their creativity with each other. We miss you guys!
Soooo… each week we’ll be inviting Brickworks kids and their families to complete a cool drama activity and share it with us online. To this end we’ve created a Brickworks Drama Group (closed – members only) on Facebook – a place where parents/caregivers can help their kids share their work and see what their friends have been up to.
You can request to join the group by clicking here
Hope to see you there!

Julie’s Greenroom

Julie’s Greenroom – an adorable show for drama kids in lockdown. Puppets stage their own musical under the watchful eye of mentor Julie Andrews in this original kids’ series from the Jim Henson Company – available on Netflix. And… their Facebook page is full of fun ideas and activities.

Check it out, Brickworks whānau!

April School Holidays cancelled

We’re sorry to say that due to Covid-19 our April School Holiday workshops have been cancelled. Stay safe and stay home! Kids – call someone who’s alone and read them a story you’ve written! Drama is storytelling, and we need stories right now 🙂

Taking a break

Kia ora Brickworks whānau,

In light of the most recent announcements from the Ministry of Health we have decided to do our part to “flatten the curve” and cancel the last three weeks of drama lessons this term. While we do gather in groups of less than 100, the nature of drama exercises makes social distancing tricky, and we are not an essential activity like school. So we think it’s in the best interests of our beautiful community to take a break.

We can offer you a credit for these classes, or a refund. Please let us know what you prefer. We will have these all loaded and processed by the end of term.

Our ability to offer you the April School Holiday Workshops (20 – 24 April) is now uncertain, but we will keep you informed about this.

With love,
Lauren and Natascha

COVID-19 (Coronavirus) update: the health and welfare of our whānau and communities is super super important to us. We are monitoring and managing any potential risks, and updating our procedures as needed. More information on COVID-19 can be found on the Ministry of Health website and Nanogirl has two great videos that explain Coronavirus and handwashing to kids in a reassuring way 🙂

July School Holiday Workshops just around the corner…

How is it winter already? We are staying nice and cosy at The Chapel and have had a hilarious Term Two, as we all focus on our Improvisation skills. We’ve seen some wonderful characters and whacky scenarios played out this term 🙂

We are now taking enrolments for our July School Holiday workshops! We have an awesome programme lined up for Week 2 of the holidays (16 – 20 July) and hope to see lots of our students and some new faces too! Each day ends with a 2.30pm showing so we can share the day’s learning with our friends and family. For more information check out our July School Holidays page then head over to EnrolMy to book in.

Term Two!

We have had a great start to the year, adding a fun new Preschool class to our line-up. Parents are really enjoying the fact that even though their children are different ages, our 2018 schedule means they can enrol both children in parallel classes at the same time! Less to coordinate on the weekly calendar 🙂

The April School Holiday programme is in full swing with lots of kids turning up for new adventures each day. We are ending the week on a high with Carnival on Thursday and Pasifika Storytelling on Friday ( in partnership with the amazing Ura Tabu Pacific Dance company).

Enrolments for Term Two are now open! Our theme for Term Two is Improvisation.

We teach each class improvisational technique, according to their ages and stages. Listening, making creative offers, accepting and developing each other’s ideas, building scenarios as a team… These are great life skills, and so much fun! We play lots of games and pick up skills through long-form exercises. The students are amazed and very entertained by the characters and stories they come up with.

  • first class Wed 2nd May
  • last class Wed 4th July

Please click around the site for more info and go to the Enrol page to register your child. We love to hear from you so please send any queries through to us at brickworksdrama@gmail.com

Term 1, 2018 classes start on 7th February

New year, new classes, new timetable and new challenges!!! We are happy to announce the addition of a Preschool class (3 & 4 yrs) to our timetable. In this class the parents/caregivers will participate in some activites – having fun with their child as they go on imaginative journeys!

Another bonus is that parents who also have a 5 or 6 year old can engage in the Preschool class, while their older child is busy in the Primary class (which runs at the same time in the next room).

For any kids who like their tutors’ Brickworks t-shirt – now you can order your own! Just check the box as you enrol on Enrolmy.

Thanks for your support and for being part of the Brickworks Family! Happy New Year!

Term 4 kicks off this week!

We are really excited to announce that we have received some funding from the Creative Communities Scheme to put together an end of term show with the children. The name of the show is “Tat’s Incredible!“.

We’ll devise short plays inspired by local tales of Te Atatu Peninsula’s history that tell of its people’s resilience, community spirit, courage, ingenuity, and humour.

We’ll have two extra rehearsals (free of charge) on Sat 18th and Sat 25th Nov.

Performing day December 2nd at the Chapel
