January School Holiday Workshops

ccs-logo-auckland-council

We’re finishing January with a fun week of drama workshops! With the kind support of Creative Communities, we’re running two series of workshops (for 6 – 9 year olds, and 10 – 14 year olds) from 18th – 22nd January.

Each workshop is a self-contained day with a central theme, finishing with a showcase by the kids at 3pm for their parents and caregivers. The students gain confidence, enhancing their communication and teamwork skills through fun games and exercises taught by the experienced Brickworks drama tutors.

Details and enrolment information below:

When: Mon 18th – 22nd January

Time: 9am – 3.30pm each day

Where: The Chapel (cnr Waipani and Beach Rds), Te Atatu Peninsula, Auckland.

What: We run a self-contained workshop each day, so single-day bookings are fine. Every day finishes with a 3:00pm showcase by the kids for their friends and family.

Cost: $50 per day (single day bookings available).

Workshop Descriptions

Mon 18 Jan – “Radio Play” – Live Theatre (with a sound theme)
We create cool sounds with props and objects, and make live sound effects for our plays! Professional foley artist, Natascha Diaz, teaches us the tricks of the trade!

Tue 19 Jan – “Te Atatu’s Got Talent” – Comedy
Dancing dogs, singing cats, magic tricks and jokes – anything goes at today’s variety show. One thing’s for sure – there will be laughter, music, and fabulous costumes.

Wed 20 Jan – “Mask-erade” – Physical Theatre
Kids make their own masks today (using a special Brickworks technique!), then create characters to perform short scenes. We can’t wait to see what they come up with!

Thurs 21 Jan – “Fairy tale Mash Up” – Script
Did you hear about the time Maleficent met the Big Bad Wolf? Or when Goldilocks robbed the Three Little Pigs? Today we shake up our favourite fairy tales and give them a brand new twist.

Fri 22 Jan – “Tat Pen Survivor” – Screen Acting (with a reality TV theme)
Today we film our very own episode of “Tat Pen Survivor”. Banished from the village, our contestants must (pretend to) forage for food and shelter in the challenging surrounds of The Chapel. Who will be eliminated? (Actually, no one. We’re very inclusive.) Who. Will. Survive? (All of them.) A day of silly fun.
