Workshop Descriptions

Mon 8 October – “Let’s Make it Up!” (Improvisation)
A day of fun games and improv exercises. Students learn the basics of improvisation and/or build on their experience. Lots of laughter, creative thinking, and team work.

Tue 9 October – “Golden Age of Hollywood” (Physical Theatre)
We explore the magic of Hollywood’s early silent movies, creating our own “silent movie” scenes with mime, costume and music. We’ll perform these on stage at the end of the day.

Wed 10 October – “Whispers from the Sea” (Pasifika Storytelling)
Our talented guest tutors will guide the students through a Pasifika story of the sea, working with drama, movement, and music. The students become storytellers and share their devised work with us at the end of the day.

Thurs 11 October – “Te Atatu’s Got Talent!” (Comedy)
We create our own dazzling talent show, using a few good theatre tricks! Opera, magic, gymnastics – we’ve got it all. Wrapping up with a showcase that is sure to amaze and amuse!

Fri 12 October – “Lights! Camera! Action!” (Acting for Screen)
We introduce the students to the world of screen acting through scenes ranging from made-up commercials, to drama scenes. Scenes will be recorded for you to keep.
